Weathering the Economic Maelstrom: Reactionary Self Evaluation

With the economy sinking faster and further by the day, people are wondering what they can do to better weather the storm. Try this:

Im taking a course this summer and we have class in a particular room. For obvious reasons they like to keep the room as cold as possible. People had complained about how cold the room was, so I can only guess that the hotel tried to make the room a little less cold. And people had noticed that the room was indeed warmer.

However, now people on the right side room were complaining about how warm the room was. Upon investigating I saw two things that confused me. The thermostat was on the same temperature as before, right about 62 degrees F. But on the right side of the room, the floor heating unit was on full blast.

Take that in. A/C on full. Heat on Blast. Net effect, a room that was tolerable. At least twice the energy costs.

Thats a clown move. Normally I dont tell people to react, but rather be proactive. But take some time, examine your costs and see if you are making some of these self negating moves.
